Hi,

Does anyone know who Abouna Markous Aziz is, and why is he well-known? What exactly is it that he is teaching that people are so angry about?

I believe he is a priest in Shoubra's St. Marks Church
who has his opinons concerning the goverment which causes some
"unwanted feelings" to rise...

Al-Komos (Hegumen) Marcos Aziz is a Pastor in Virgin St Mary Church in Old Cairo (the Meallaka Church). He is one of the prominent fervent totally legal intellectual voices defending the COC rights concerning violence and striking intellectual attacks against the Church, the Church property and the Pope.

If you search Google using this string "مرقص عزيز كنيسة المعلقة" (in arabic) you find a lot of pages ranging anything between acceptance or refusal of his voice and writings. Be warned that there are many false accusations and twisted facts rivals use to fight him or the Church, and also against the Bible he has always fervently defended and still does. Also, some parties may fake to agree with him for political gains or indirectly flame others etc.
