Dear Coptic Deacon:
I think from what we've seen from the Greek Melkite Patriarch Theodore II is that even if we are not in complete unity, we are united. Just look at the behaviour and love he has shown our Patriarch.
Now, if we had complete unity,…
OMG.. wow.. they are all Bolivians.
I attended an Italian & Spanish mass this weekend in the Catholic Church. The music was pretty good; but you HONESTLY had the impression that some lady was going to jump into the crowd and start doing flamenc…
Hi Faithful..
You said "nothing beats coptic"
that's what I thought, until I heard it in Italian. It sounds better in Italian; and i'm not kidding or exaggerating in ANY way.
And guess what?? Someone told me that apparently its even better in Spanis…
Its a mess. I saw this video this morning. GOD FORGIVE THEM WHO MADE THIS.. they ruined the hymn. I just hear cymbals and triangle, and no words.
The whole purpose of the tasbeha in Italian was that you can sing and understand what you are singing. …
Hello AP,
I'm not sure if I'm closer to them "more than I think". We'll see. Some bad stuff happened, and even though God may "compensate" me for these bad events, I find it hard to be friends with these saints after these events.
There is a deeper issue here that I think is being overlooked:
* The engagement period, in the Coptic Orthodox Church at least, is actually a period of discernment for marriage. Having sexual relations in this period can have disasterous affects:

Thanks Guys,
Perhaps I'm not that close to the saints as I thought? I definately felt alone in the worst periods of my life.
I hope you continue to grow in Grace and virtue and be a cause for others to come closer to Christ.
God bless you all
I think you can tell from my posts that I too have been through similar situations as yourself.
When you believe in God, and you pray for something, and you get the exact opposite you asked for, you can only come to the conclusion that obviously Go…
Hi Cyril,
Thanks for this post.
I did have my own personal saints, and I did as you said" I spoke to them, venerated them... etc"
But they deserted me when I needed them most. They left me.
I hope what happened to me never happens to you, or anyone,…
Beautiful comments there by AntonyPaul!! I agree - hold hard to your convictions, and always go to Church for Christ, not for any social reasons. Don't worry, you'll be blessed with a good spouse that suits you.
Bishops can be FoC's; but thanks for raising this point: indeed, I forgot to mention: most priests in UK are just awesome, as well as in Europe in general. I've heard great things about our priests in Australia also. I've just simply suggested Anba …
Dear MicahCook, Welcome to Tasbeha.org! Welcome to the Coptic Church. Your story sounds very very familiar to that of my wife; yet unfortunately, she had the same encounter and conclusion you have whilst being part of the Catholic Church. We both di…
@qawe: See - that statement would antagonise many catholics: they think they are the official body of Christ. The Church is the bride of Christ. Isn't she? How can Christ have multiple wives? is that not a scandal? One of us is an imposter. No?
@lfahmy: I know a lot of catholics, and many of them respect the Coptic Church. However, you will find that pre-Vatican II catholics hate our church. All latin rite catholics hate us. They think we are trying to replicate them, or to make out that …
The catholics are hung up on us being under their pope : to them, being Catholic, or being labelled "catholic" is what saves you. They behave as if they have a monopoly on salvation and on God.
This is worrying as they seem to go to great lengths, …
Guys,Can someone just summarise this for me: How does the Coptic Orth. Church view Chalcedonian Churches? What differences are there? Do they see us as heretics?? Do Catholics see us heretics? or do they see us schismatics?
Why does he want to become Orthodox? What are the reasons exactly? What did he research or find that appealed to him about becoming Orthodox? Why then Coptic Orthodox?
the people in my church sing the tasbeha so fast that I might as well learn Coptic also just to keep up. Its too fast to even read the translation whilst they are singing in Coptic.
That's very pro-active of you to take it upon yourself to learn this awesome language.I'm sure if you typed Learn Coptic in YouTube, you'll get loads of videos. However, I think these videos are there to help you learn how to read Coptic, not really…
I know there are courses given on YouTube. Well done for making this initiative, by the way! I wish I could learn Coptic also as a language. I find that the Tasbeha is done so fast that I cannot keep up at times.
Minasoliman, Joekeliny,
Joyful Easter to you all.
Sorry if i was naive to think that this post was a normal question; but for the record, what makes a great shammas or hymn leader is not necessarily someone that knows the hymns - extremely well, …
IamHoly, I love your honesty. Do you think there's really ANY Glory in leading hymns? Seriously though? Where is the glory in that? Its hard work, I personally find it at times distracting. You remind me of a priest's kid at Church that thought like …
