  • I got 'Priesthood' and 'Comparative Theology' by HH Pope Shenouda III, along with 'On the Incarnation' by Abba Athanasius and another book on Abba Athanasius' writings today at Church. This should keep me busy for a while  ;)
  • I'll get some relatives to look for it. I'll keep looking myself...such a collection is practically essential to any member of the COC. My relatives are mostly in Al-Minya, what about yours?
  • If one was to go back and look at history, it's not difficult to see that the Coptic Church is essentially the same as the Apostles left it. We don't really like change that much  ;)
  • There are some things which shouldn't be joked about, really. This being one of them. Just in my honest opinion.

  • We pray that God will have mercy on us all. But, if you want a more meaty answer: How can a Church's members be saved when they don't believe that Communion is the Holy Body and Precious Blood of our Lord? How can thier sins be forgiven when they d…
  • I'm sure that was directed toward Our Lord. Atleast, I hope it was  :-\

  • I would burn the money, unless you have debts to pay off or something similar. The Church won't accept it. This may have sounded very extreme, but we must remember that money is the root of all evil. Perhaps you should save it. Just put it in a b…
  • http://www.ecampus.com/book/002897025X I'd guess that this is the whole collection and the $120 covers a mere volume.
  • This is a good way to look at it. This corresponds with the idea that there are, indeed, varying levels of punishment.
  • Held to a much higher standard? Versus who? I really don't want to state it directly...but how can the Protestants...you know what I'm getting at. Everyone should realize that Orthodoxy is the way to go. Society would be a better place that way.
  • We must remember what we say EVERY Divine Liturgy - "We look to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the coming age. Amen." We are resurrected when Judgement Day occurs. We retain our bodies, our physical appearances. Although, if we were…
  • Yes, but we can all agree that Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Therefore, how can a non-Christian be saved? But also, God created us all, even the non-Christians. Why…

  • What are the principal differences between the COC and the other Orthodox churches of the east, other than Christology? And, in fact, aren't they dyophysite? They believe in two seperate natures, but we believe in one nature composed of 2 essences,…
  • I see. What are the conditions that must be met to attain the highest level? Likewise, what kind of person must you be to go to the deepest depths of Hell?
  • :) Order it! It's brand new! I'm gonna go for it  ;) Uh-oh...it seems that the whole set costs around $1,200. That's a bit much, eh? Are there any alternatives?
  • Is this it? http://www.ecampus.com/book/0028970276
  • This is good news indeed. It is God's will for EVERYONE to be saved, as he created us all. It's just that some people are blind to the true and divine Faith.
  • I don't know about 'levels' in heaven. The Bible never mentioned anything about that, did it? Also, if there were levels to hell, there would be an excuse to sin, ex. "Oh well, if lust just this one time, it's ok, I won't get punished as bad as th…
  • Aren't the GOC and the COC essentially the same? It's even to the point where Copts can mary Greeks without baptism and it can even take place once, instead of once in each church. If the Greeks were only to change thier dogma...I bet we could even…
  • Your daily schedule depends on the type of monastery you go to. For example, a St. Antony type monastery would have you focus heavily on solitude.

  • Ok, thanks guys  ;D I'd also like to ask - what's the trick to getting Coptic to display in the signature? I had to use Greek, since it's built into Windows XP...
  • Indeed, what is the story behind Pope Shenouda's ordination? Why was a Bishop nominated instead of the usual monks?
  • I see. Is it safe to discuss this with our FOC?
  • Of course, it isn't easy...you are responsible for each person in the church's community. Pope Shenouda said to a newly ordained priest that if you fail to work with he who sins, God will put the his blood on your head. Likewise, if he doesn't lis…
