My dad has a shop and I work in it..
They sell stuff like candles, lighters, cd holders, necklaces like horoscope.. cancer, arius (?) ,scorpio (?) ... And other stuff which I think is evil or can be related to sin..

Am I allowed to sell these things? would I not be participating (?) in the peoples sins?
I think I would be making my dad lose money by not selling these things..
One monk said its okay to own a video shop.. I think its wrong

One way is to destroy the source of sin which represents the seller of sinful products
Another way is control the hearts of those that purchase the sinful products.
The liquor industry, or horoscope (or witchcraft) industry, or even pharmaceutical industries, which sell controversial oral contraceptives, like the recently approved morning-after pill, will never be shutdown.
Our goal to solve this problem is from the second way which is to stop the hearts of those purchasing these products, not by destroying the source which can never be destroyed in this world. And if we do accomplish that your total sales of your store might be down, lol, sry its 5 AM and i am tired. Goodnight

Well this is what abouna said one time about a liquor store. He said if you acutily go tell ppl come and buy this from me, that's a sin, or if you give uneraged wrong stuff or if you acuitly cheet in somthing concerning that, that's a sin. but if you just selling stuff to the right people (mean in age by showing ID atleast) ther is nothing wrong with it.

I think that this is wrong what you and your dad is doing. I think you should stop and it doesnt madder if your dad doesnt have any more money. He deserve's no money if he sells bad things.

well i want to ask d u think it is wrong do defend criminals? because i think not but there was a person who told me that people who do dont have a good conscience and are not good christians.

but at least try to find other work away from ur dad`s shop.and may be by time u would be able to convenice him that what he sells is wrong.and plz don`t say that ur dad needs u to help him with the shop ( i always hear this :-\ )

okay guys, with alll due respect whats wrong with candles, lighters, cd holders, and necklaces....these are all everyday neccessities... i dont see the problem with them khalisss.
I think we're being a little too critical and missing the point...these are all just petty items and as long as they dont take our focus away from God then thats fine. What im basically trying to say is this wont jeapordize ur spiritual life...and its not like you are encouraging people to believe in these horoscopes or anything ....if you're not the one sellling it, they'll just go to the next conveniience store and get it from there...
for example, say you work at Mcdonalds and the church is fasting....and you're serving non-seeyami food...what difference does it make...its not like these people would be fasting if you werent there...
Its a diffferent story however if you're at school or sumthing and you get the opportunity to voice ur opinion on these isssues...

The onlyway that is going to be a sin is if u sell it to young kids

Dont you think selling pornography to someone is wrong even if the person was over 18?
..
But I should maybe put the products downstairs in the basement.. but there is so many things maybe which I think I should not sell..
Seemed weird or something to me that he would be okay with that..
Where then does standing up for our beliefs come in?
I think I am going to follow his advice anyway.. since some other monk or priest I think would agree with my priest..
to me though its smaller or something .. it seems to me like selling drugs..and letting people sin.
