    I always thought that patron saints were a Roman Catholic idea. I have never heard of it being used in an Orthodox Church. I may be wrong. Many people have favorite intercessors that they form close bonds with, but I have never heard people asking for the intercession of different saints for different needs. I may be wrong, but I only know Catholics who use this method. I wonder why it is rarely used among orthodox (or at least the ones that I know)?

    I just noticed somethng interesting when I saw David the prophet and king and Job the righteous on your list. Most people, myself included, do not ask the intercession of the righteous ones from the Old Testament like David, Elijah, Moses, Abraham etc. We definately remember them in Tasbeha and the liturgy. We even ask them to intercede on our behalf that the Lord may forgive us our sins. Why are they so often neglected in our personal prayers?

    Also, thanks Youstina for enlightening me to the fact that the Greek Orthodox do have patron saints.

    Hey,

    I really like that list. But just a personal little idea, I think that St. Marina the martyr should also be under Demons and Withchcraft. I just think that cuz i've heard her called St. Marina, The Great martyr who defeated the devil.
